Golf etiquette
Behaviour on the course:
In short, the most important points of golf etiquette are:
• Consideration for other players.
• Safety on the course and in the practice areas.
• Order of play and priority on the course.
• Keeping up a good pace of play.
• Taking care of the course.
Etiquette is an important part of golf. To a beginner it may seem daunting, but as you play more the ways of doing things become second nature. Most of them are based on common sense.
When playing on the course, remember the following rules:
• Do not move, talk or stand too close to another player while they are hitting the ball.
• Only play your tee shot or next shot once the group ahead is definitely far enough away.
• Play promptly. The number of shots depends on your skill, but even a beginner can learn to walk briskly and act without delay between shots. When you have finished a hole, leave the green and move on to the next tee.
• Let a faster group play through if the players behind you have to wait for you.
• Replace divots. Rake your marks in the bunker. Repair pitch marks on the green.
• Take care not to step on another player's putting line on the green.
• Do not damage the surface of the green.
• Replace the flag gently and carefully.
• Do not take a shortcut with your trolley between the green and a bunker.
